ORGANIC COCONUT SUGAR

What is it?

The production of coconut sugar starts with the collection of nectar from the flowers of the coconut palm. All freshly harvested nectar is collected in a large pan, which is then heated - heating slowly evaporates the water from the nectar. After most of the water is evaporated, the liquid nectar becomes granulated into small particles of sugar.
KOSPA Coconut Sugar is made out of coconut palms that grow right on the volcano soils of Jawa region, which ensures a very high mineral content in our coconut sugar (see the picture). Our Coconut sugar comes from small farmer communities in Indonesia that put great emphasis on the environmental sustainability of the sugar production, aswell as the quality of life of the farmers.
In 2014, the coconut sugar was rated as the most sustainable sweetener in the world.* (*Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations)

Usage

Coconut sugar tastes like caramel, it can replace any other sugar in 1:1 ratio. It is suitable for baking or for sweetening any meals or drinks.

Nutritional information

The main virtue of coconut sugar is its low glycemic index (GI 35). This means that it increases the glucose levels in blood more slowly – it has thus the lower burden on the organism compared to other types of sugar, also making it suitable for diabetics.
